U.S. Figure Skating has implemented a background screening
process to help ensure that we are providing a safe environment and
protecting the welfare of all participants in U.S. Figure Skating
sanctioned activities. Parents must also have the highest degree of
confidence that their children are not only receiving good care and
proper instruction but are safe from improper conduct.
Skating professionals (coaches, choreographers, etc.) must comply
with this registration requirement in order to be allowed to
instruct/coach at the following sanctioned activities during the
2008-09 skating season:
- All qualifying and non-qualifying competitions
- Test sessions
- All performances including ice shows, exhibitions, recitals
and carnivals
- Any other sanctioned club activities
Before any skating professional is issued a credential for the
2009 Southwest Pacific Regional Championships, they must present their US Figure
Skating coach registration card (or temporary card), along with a
government issued picture identification. Those without
registration cards will be checked against the most recent
registration list from US Figure Skating. If the skating
professional does not present the proper credentials, or is not on
the registration list, then issuance of a professional's credential
will be denied, as will any privileges associated with such
credential, including but not limited to; standing at the board,
participating in warm-up, admittance to locker room area, or
other professional facilities.
